Storm Debris Cleanup in Pinellas County: What to Do First
After a storm, the priority is getting everyone safe. Once officials say it’s safe to be outside, work out what the city or county will collect and what you’ll need to arrange separately.
Check conditions before entering the yard
Stay clear of downed wires, floodwater, unstable trees and damaged structures. Follow Pinellas County’s after-storm guidance and report hazards to the appropriate utility or emergency service.
Look up pickup instructions for your address
Your city or the county can tell you what it’s collecting, where to set it out and whether your street is included. See Pinellas County storm debris updates. Wait for current instructions before placing anything in the right of way.
Photograph and separate the piles
When it’s safe, take wide photos before moving materials, especially if you need a record of the damage. Keep branches and vegetation separate from damaged furniture, building materials, appliances and chemicals. Follow the local instructions for each group.
Get help with debris left on your property
For private hauling, send photos of the piles and the route to them. Tell us about access, any material you can’t identify and what public collection will cover. We’ll confirm what we can accept and when we can come. See our yard waste service or request a quote.
