Should You Haul It Yourself or Hire a Junk Removal Crew?

If you have a truck, a clear driveway and a few light items, taking a load yourself can make sense. The decision changes when the pile needs several trips or the heaviest piece is upstairs.

Count the whole trip

Include the truck or trailer, loading help, drive time, disposal fees and facility hours. Check where each material can go before you load it. If you’re borrowing a vehicle, make sure the load fits and can be transported securely.

Think through the lift

A sleeper sofa or loaded cabinet can be hard to handle in a tight stairwell. Estimate the work from where the item sits to where the truck can park. If you can’t move it safely with the help and equipment you have, get a crew’s quote.

Compare the same scope

Ask whether the pickup price includes carrying items from indoors, loading, hauling and the agreed material. Give the crew the same item list you used for your own estimate. If a few extra items need to go, include them before you compare costs.
